Requirements:
- Theoretical Networking and Systems knowledge covering:
- OSI model
- Topology design and cable management
- Diverse network types on/off premise/cloud (LAN, WAN, VNETs etc.)
- Network/Infrastructure components (servers, hubs, routers, switches, firewalls, Load balancing, UPS etc.)
- Network protocols; TCP/IP, DHCP etc.
- IP Packet, IP addressing/subnetting, DNS
- File share/printer share
- Remote access/VPN Protocols
- Security and internal/external threat analysis e.g. Denial of service attacks, Virus etc
- OS/Virtualisation Management e.g. Hyper-V, VMware, Windows Server, Linux
- HA/DR e.g. clustering
- Storage & capacity management e.g. SAN configuration, DAS, RAID etc.
- Active Directory Domain Services
Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering:
- Improvement and expansion of existing network infrastructure both physical and virtual, plus the design, Implementation and configuration of contemporary network solutions on-premise plus WAN Connectivity (Branch to Branch and Cloud Estate).
- Lead network performance optimisation and network connectivity via ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting to find and fix faults and prevent outages. Including support to remote/on-site engineers.
- Infrastructure and Network status/incident notification to support teams on planned/unplanned events.
- Infrastructure/networking procurement and collaboration with outside vendors/contractors involved with configuration and/or set-up installation as required.
- Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing best practice policies and defining and monitoring access via suitable product tooling/services e.g. VPN.
- Vulnerability Assessment plus patching network firmware/software and password management
- Providing third tier support to all global staff/in-house support teams
System Administration:
- Assisting 1st/2nd line support on issues escalated via the internal ticketing system
- Liaising with third party vendors/contractors on external support cases
- Working with other internal technology teams to investigate/resolve issues
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Set-up and administration of user accounts, permissions/passwords and software
- Maintaining internal security groups and mailing lists
- Troubleshooting issues relating to file permissions, security groups and email groups
- Single Sign On integration via Azure Active Directory
- Testing and deploying new versions/updates for new and existing systems
- Vulnerability Assessment plus patching system firmware/software and password management
